Alberta Slots Guide is for adults aged 18 and over. Gambling can cause financial loss and affect relationships, work and everyday life. If it is causing concern, taking a break and contacting a support service are useful steps.
Gambling support in Alberta
The Alberta Addiction Helpline provides confidential support, information and referrals, including for gambling concerns. Its published toll-free number is 1-866-332-2322, available 24 hours a day within Alberta.
211 Alberta can help you find services for yourself or someone you care about. MyHealth Alberta also lists recovery resources.
Recognise when to stop
Warning signs include borrowing to continue gambling, hiding what you spend, chasing a loss or struggling to stop a session. Spending money needed for essentials, or gambling that disrupts sleep and relationships, also deserves attention. You do not have to wait for the situation to become worse before seeking help.
Decide your boundaries in advance
Keep essential household expenses separate from gambling money. Decide how much time and money you can afford to spend before starting, and stop at that boundary. Avoid playing when upset, exhausted or affected by alcohol. Another deposit, bonus or game cannot make a loss certain to be recovered.
Taking a longer break
Account tools may include spending controls, session reminders, cooling-off periods and self-exclusion. Read the scope and duration before using them. A restriction on one account does not necessarily cover another service.
AGLC provides GameSense and self-exclusion information. Its iGaming information explains the centralized programme. Check the current enrolment options directly with AGLC. Do not assume an offshore account is covered.
Protect shared devices
Keep adult gambling accounts and payment methods away from children. Sign out on shared devices and do not share account access. Play-money results do not demonstrate how real-money play will turn out.
