Land-Based Casinos in Alberta: Venues & City Guides

Editor: Updated

Find land-based casinos across Alberta, compare the areas they serve and go straight to official venue information. This directory covers the 30 entries displayed in AGLC’s casino and racing entertainment centre finder when checked on November 1, 2026. It is a starting point for planning a real visit, with city guides, property links and practical questions to settle before travelling.

A casino floor, restaurant, hotel, concert venue and racetrack can operate on different schedules within the same property. Choose your destination first, then check the service you intend to use. The regional groups below include nearby communities where stated; a venue listed under an Edmonton or Calgary area heading is not necessarily inside that city’s boundaries.

These property cards show different kinds of Alberta casino visits: a mall location, a resort near Edmonton and two Calgary-area resort properties. They are examples rather than a ranking. Use the guide for an overview and the operator website for current services, opening times and direct contact details.

River Cree Resort & Casino

Enoch, near Edmonton

The operator lists a hotel, dining and events alongside the casino. It publishes separate hours for slots, table games and poker, which is useful when planning a late visit.

Starlight Casino Edmonton

West Edmonton Mall

The casino’s own site identifies its West Edmonton Mall location. Its published schedule distinguishes 24-hour slots from daily table-game hours; mall shopping hours are not a substitute for checking the casino.

Deerfoot Inn & Casino

Calgary

The operator combines a casino with a hotel, dining and entertainment. Its casino information separates slots, table games and poker, so confirm the specific area you want before arranging a visit.

Grey Eagle Resort & Casino

Tsuut’ina Nation, Calgary area

The operator describes a resort on Tsuut’ina Nation with casino, hotel, dining and events. Check the current event and property notices when coordinating a show, meal or overnight stay.

Alberta casino directory by region

Each entry links to our venue guide and the operator address supplied by AGLC’s finder. The names follow the finder, with an operator name change noted where verified. You can match each entry when checking it yourself. Regional grouping is for navigation. It does not imply shared ownership, an endorsement, a particular game inventory or identical admission arrangements.

Edmonton and surrounding area

Edmonton is best treated as several local trips rather than one compact casino district. A West Edmonton Mall visit, a downtown evening and an airport-area stop require different transport plans. River Cree is in Enoch; Century St. Albert is in St. Albert. Check the street address before deciding that a venue is close to your hotel. Compare the Edmonton-area casinos for venue-by-venue planning.

Calgary and surrounding area

Compare the actual address with your starting point: airport access, a city-centre outing and a resort visit are different journeys. Century Downs is listed in Rocky View County. Grey Eagle’s operator identifies its location on Tsuut’ina Nation. A hotel or event at a property does not mean every casino service follows the same schedule. Start with the Calgary casino guide when choosing a part of the wider area.

Red Deer and central Alberta

Red Deer has two separate entries in the finder, so confirm the business name when arranging a pickup or asking about a service. The wider central group also includes Camrose, Bear Hills and The Track on 2. These are regional options, not venues within one walkable district. Use the Red Deer guide for the city itself and each property’s directions for an onward journey.

Lethbridge and Medicine Hat

Bullys and Pure Casino Lethbridge are distinct Lethbridge entries. Copper Coulee is in Medicine Hat. Compare the right city before checking gaming or dining hours, particularly when a journey is part of a longer southern Alberta itinerary. The Lethbridge casino guide focuses on the local options; the individual venue guides keep the destinations separate.

Northern and eastern Alberta

The northern and eastern group spans Cold Lake, Whitecourt, Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray. Distance between cities matters more than the order shown in a directory. Confirm seasonal travel conditions, your return arrangements and the exact property entrance before leaving. Grande Prairie has two separate finder entries. A casino name appearing here is a way to locate its official details, not a promise that a particular machine or table will be available.

Kananaskis

Stoney Nakoda is the Kananaskis entry in this directory. A resort visit can involve dining, accommodation or an event as well as gaming, and each needs its own availability check. Decide whether you are making a day trip or an overnight stay before comparing room terms and transport. Allow for the journey itself rather than treating a regional resort as a city-centre venue.

Red Deer name update: AGLC’s finder still labels one entry “Cash Casino Red Deer”. The operator now uses ACE Casino Red Deer, and its former website redirects to the ACE site. These are the same property at 6350 67 Street, not two separate directory entries. Our existing Cash Casino Red Deer guide remains the guide route.

How to choose a venue for your visit

Start with what you actually want to do. If the plan is dinner and a show, the event time, restaurant booking and route home may matter more than the size of the gaming floor. If you want a particular table game, a general statement that a casino has tables does not establish its current lineup, minimum stake or operating hours. Ask the property about that game and the date you have in mind.

For slots, distinguish the number of machines from the number of different titles. Several cabinets can offer the same game, while a multi-game terminal can offer several choices. A machine count is useful background, but it is not proof that a specific title, denomination or feature is on the floor today. Our slot game guide explains the main categories without treating a directory listing as a live inventory.

Location should be a practical comparison, not simply a city label. Read the full street address, check the entrance and decide whether you will drive, take transit or use a taxi. A venue near an airport may still require an additional transfer. A venue inside a mall may have its own access arrangements after shopping hours. Contact the property if an entrance, elevator or pickup area is important to your visit.

Make a short list using the services that matter to your group. Compare accessible routes, dining choices, a quieter place for a break and the timing of the return trip. Do not assume a larger resort will suit everyone better than a smaller local venue. The useful comparison is whether the actual facilities fit the visit you have planned.

Opening hours, slots and table games

A headline such as “open 24 hours” needs context. It may describe the building or slot floor while table games, poker, restaurants and guest services keep shorter hours. A poker tournament also has a starting time and registration arrangements separate from the room’s general schedule. Check these details individually instead of relying on a search-result snippet.

Starlight’s operator site, for example, lists slots as open around the clock and tables from 11 am to 3 am daily, checked November 1, 2026. River Cree also separates its slot, table and poker schedules. These examples show why a single opening-hours field can be misleading; they should not be applied to other venues. Schedules checked for this guide can change, including for holidays, staffing or events.

Ask about the stake you would need for a complete round rather than one component of a bet. A slot denomination is the value of a credit, not necessarily the full spin cost. On a table, optional side bets are additional to the main wager. Decide your limit using the displayed total before playing. Our guide to how slots work explains credits, paylines and feature costs in more detail.

Game rules and payouts should be read at the machine or table. A jackpot sign, familiar game name or large floor does not tell you a specific game’s return. RTP is a long-run mathematical measure, while volatility describes how outcomes can vary. Neither supplies a forecast for a short visit. If a rule or displayed award is unclear, ask staff before placing a stake.

Travel, parking and accessibility

Plan the return journey before arriving. Check the final transit departure, a suitable pickup location and any parking restrictions that apply to the time you expect to leave. A free parking claim can depend on the lot, validation or duration, so read the property’s directions rather than assuming every space nearby is included. Leave enough time to exit an event or busy dining area.

For an unfamiliar route, use the operator’s current directions and confirm the destination in your map application. Similar venue names and an old business name can lead to the wrong entrance. Save the address and public telephone number before travelling. If you are combining two stops, work out the distance between their actual addresses rather than assuming both city labels mean they are close together.

Accessibility is more specific than whether a building has a ramp. Ask about accessible parking, step-free access from that parking area, doorways, elevators and washroom locations. Someone attending a show may need seating information from the event team as well as the general property team. Ask whether a companion arrangement or mobility aid needs advance discussion; do not rely on a general directory to settle an individual requirement.

Lighting, noise, smoke exposure and the distance between facilities can also affect comfort. River Cree’s website distinguishes its main smoke-free facility from the smoke-friendly Embers gaming centre. That distinction is property-specific. At any venue, ask where the relevant areas are and choose a route that meets your needs. A restaurant reservation does not establish which route through the building you will use.

Entry, identification and shared facilities

Check the property’s admission and identification requirements before leaving home. The rules for entering a gaming floor are not necessarily the same as those for a hotel, restaurant or ticketed event within the wider complex. If your group includes younger people, ask the venue which non-gaming areas they may use, whether an adult must accompany them and which entrance or route is permitted.

Carry the identification the venue accepts and make sure it is valid. A loyalty membership, booking confirmation or photograph on a phone should not be treated as a replacement unless the property expressly says it is accepted for the purpose in question. When you contact the venue, explain whether you are asking about casino entry, a concert, a hotel check-in or a particular promotion.

Check bags, dress and conduct requirements for the service you plan to use. An event promoter may set additional ticket conditions. A table or poker room may also have practical rules about seating, devices or reservations. Reading these in advance avoids turning a short visit into a problem at the door. This directory does not process admission, event tickets or room bookings.

Keep optional memberships separate from the decision to gamble. A rewards programme may have its own terms, data choices and eligibility requirements. Joining is not a reason to spend more than planned, and a card does not change the mathematics of a game. Ask the property about a membership benefit directly rather than assuming it applies across unrelated casinos.

Dining, hotels, events and racing

Use the operator’s own pages to coordinate a combined outing. Check the restaurant’s last seating as well as its opening time, the show’s door time as well as the performance time, and the hotel’s check-in terms as well as the nightly room price. These are separate services, and a casino staying open does not mean a restaurant kitchen or ticket desk does.

A hotel advertised as part of a resort should be checked for the actual room, cancellation terms and access you need. If an accommodation option is described as nearby, confirm whether it is connected, walkable or requires a vehicle. Do not assume transport is included. Compare the complete cost of your chosen arrangements, including any parking or event charges shown at booking.

For racing entertainment centres, distinguish the gaming operation from the race calendar. Live racing dates, simulcast schedules, dining availability and the slot floor may follow different timetables. Decide which activity you want to attend and verify it on the venue’s current calendar. An entry in AGLC’s combined casino and REC finder is not a statement that live racing is taking place on your travel date.

Allow time between activities. A long dinner, a delayed arrival or an event queue should not create pressure to rush a gambling session or increase a stake. You can attend a meal or show without setting aside money to gamble. Treat the gaming budget as a separate optional entertainment expense, not as a way to pay for the rest of the evening.

Cashier questions and a visit budget

Before using a payment or cash machine, read the fee and transaction information displayed. Access to a cashier, ATM or card service does not establish that every payment method is available or free. Ask the venue about the particular service you need. Keep any receipt and settle questions about a transaction while the details are available.

Ticket-based slot systems also need care. Follow the machine’s cash-out instructions and check that you have taken the ticket before leaving the seat. Read the ticket conditions, including where and when it can be redeemed. Do not assume a ticket from one property can be used at another. If a machine or ticket has a problem, ask floor staff rather than sharing it with another visitor for help.

Set both a money limit and a leaving time before you enter. Keep travel, meals, bills and money needed for the journey home outside the gambling amount. If you reach the limit, stop rather than drawing more cash to chase the result. Our budget calculator can illustrate a total-stake allowance and pace; it cannot enforce a limit at a casino or guarantee how long the money will last.

Write down what you actually spend, rather than recording only the cash initially withdrawn. A second withdrawal or money added after a win can obscure the total. If the planned visit starts to feel difficult to control, skip the gaming floor or leave. Our responsible gambling page links to support resources, including Alberta-specific information.

For account-based play, use our separate online casino directory. Physical venues have their own cashier, membership and admission arrangements; an online account does not establish access to those services.

How this directory is checked

We used AGLC’s live finder to identify the 30 entries, then grouped them for easier regional navigation. The featured descriptions use the operators’ own published information. We do not rank physical venues by an invented win rate, claim to have visited every property or treat a machine count as evidence of a better chance of winning.

The source check date is November 1, 2026. A directory is a checked snapshot, not a live feed. Individual property pages can add further sourced detail, while the official operator remains the contact for today’s hours, floor availability and booking questions. If you find a changed name, broken link or inaccurate location, send the specific detail through our contact page so it can be reviewed.

Land-based casino directory FAQs

How many land-based venues are in this Alberta directory?

There are 30 entries from AGLC’s combined casino and racing entertainment centre finder, checked November 1, 2026. This is not a claim that all 30 have identical facilities or live table games. The six regional groups contain 8, 8, 5, 3, 5 and 1 entries respectively.

Are all venues under a city heading inside that city?

No. The regional headings include surrounding communities. River Cree is in Enoch, Century St. Albert is in St. Albert, Century Downs is in Rocky View County and Grey Eagle is on Tsuut’ina Nation. Check the property’s full address and directions before planning transport.

Are Cash Casino Red Deer and ACE Casino Red Deer separate venues?

No. AGLC’s finder still lists Cash Casino Red Deer, while the operator now uses ACE Casino Red Deer. The former site redirects to the ACE site at the same 6350 67 Street address. We count that property once and retain its existing guide route.

Are all Alberta casino games available 24 hours a day?

No. Slots, table games, poker, restaurants and events can have different schedules at one property. Starlight Edmonton lists 24-hour slots and tables from 11 am to 3 am daily, checked November 1, 2026. That schedule does not establish the hours of any other casino.

Does a directory entry confirm a particular slot or jackpot?

No. The directory identifies a property and links to its operator. A game can be moved, replaced or unavailable. Check the actual machine’s rules and displayed information before playing. A photograph, historic machine list or familiar game name is not a live inventory or jackpot quote.

Can I use an online casino account at a physical casino?

Do not assume that balances, memberships or support arrangements carry across. A physical venue has its own cashier and membership procedures. Ask that property about the service you need rather than applying an unrelated online account’s payment rules or expecting its funds to be available on the gaming floor.

What should I check about identification and admission?

Check the venue’s current admission rules and accepted identification before travelling. Requirements for a gaming floor can differ from those for a hotel, restaurant or ticketed event. Ask which entrance and non-gaming areas are suitable for your group. Do not treat a membership card or booking confirmation as a substitute for required identification.

What should I do if two sources show different opening hours?

First check whether both sources describe the same service and date. Slot hours, table hours, restaurant service and event doors can differ. Use the operator’s current information and contact the venue if the conflict remains. Confirm the activity you actually intend to use before making a trip.
