Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino

Editor: Updated

Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino combines a hotel, gaming, dining, a pool with waterslide and event facilities at 888 Nakoda Way. Its setting near the Kananaskis approach makes it possible to plan a meal, casino visit or overnight stay as different parts of the same trip.

The current operator pages advertise more than three hundred slots and one hundred rooms and suites. They also announce renovations in designated areas. This guide separates gaming and kitchen hours, identifies the poker contacts and explains the hotel and activity arrangements worth confirming for the actual visit.

Location and planning the journey

The resort publishes its address as Mînî Thnî and describes its casino location off Highway 40 towards Kananaskis. Use the complete Nakoda Way address when arranging directions rather than relying on a broad mountain-region description or an advertised driving-time estimate.

Choose the return journey as well as the outward route. A meal, poker evening and overnight stay have different arrival and departure needs. Give friends travelling separately a named meeting place and the same address, particularly if some are checking into the hotel while others arrive for dinner.

Allow time for the actual conditions and the other commitments in the trip. A room arrival deadline, restaurant booking or event start is more useful for organising the day than assuming a journey always takes one fixed number of minutes.

For a specific access requirement, describe the entrance and destination to the resort. Ask about the route from parking to reception, a restaurant or the event space. Complimentary parking does not by itself identify the most suitable space for every vehicle or visitor.

The Alberta casino directory covers other destinations. The Calgary guide concerns separate city properties rather than additional rooms at this resort.

Gaming, restaurant and lounge schedules

The current site footer publishes daily periods for slots, live tables, The Ridge and Sidelines. The services start and finish at different times, so choose the timetable for the actual activity.

Operator service schedules checked November 1, 2026
Service Published daily period
Slots 10am–4am
Live tables 2pm–3am
The Ridge 8am–9pm; breakfast until 11am
Sidelines Lounge 10am–2am
Sidelines late-night menu 9pm–11pm Sun–Thu; 9pm–midnight Fri–Sat

A late lounge opening is not a full-menu promise until the same time. Likewise, a morning breakfast does not establish that live tables are running. Poker needs its own game-specific confirmation rather than inheriting the general table period.

Make the overnight date clear

A finish after midnight following a Friday-evening arrival is on Saturday. Use the actual departure date and time when booking a lift or coordinating with a hotel stay. Agree on the intended finish before starting rather than letting the last available activity set the length of the outing.

If one particular service determines the journey, call with the date, activity and expected arrival. A response about hotel reception or the building generally does not necessarily answer the question about a kitchen, poker game or individual table.

Slots and the separate smoking area

The dedicated casino page advertises more than three hundred slots. It describes the main floor and Sidelines Lounge as non-smoking, with smoking permitted in a separate slot area behind sliding doors. The whole casino should therefore not be described as having one uniform smoking environment.

Choose the setting that suits the visit and ask for a route if avoiding the smoking area matters. A general property photograph does not identify which section contains the machine you want or confirm that a seat is available.

Read the selected cash amount

A credit denomination and a total wager can be different. Multiple credits, lines or optional features can change the cash stake. Recheck the final amount after changing settings or moving machines rather than assuming a familiar-looking screen uses the previous wager.

Use the help screen for winning combinations and any conditions attached to a displayed progressive or feature. Ask an attendant to explain an unfamiliar control before confirming a round. Establish how to collect remaining credits and where to redeem a ticket before leaving the machine.

Include remaining credits and cash-out tickets in the same record as cash spending. Changing sections does not restart the budget. Our slot mechanics guide, RTP explanation and volatility guide explain the terminology without predicting a session’s result. The slot rules guide covers paytables, wager settings and feature instructions.

Live table games and the main pit

The casino page names roulette, blackjack and Ultimate Texas Hold’em among the table choices. Ask which game and version is running at the intended arrival rather than treating the broad table opening as a guarantee of every game or vacant seat.

Read the posted minimum, payout and permitted decisions before buying in. Some games require more than one opening placement or a later wager to continue. The smallest amount on a sign may not describe the complete money needed to play a round through.

Separate casino poker from the poker game

Ultimate Texas Hold’em at a casino table is played against the dealer. It is not the same arrangement as a player-versus-player cash game or scheduled poker tournament. Use the full name when calling so staff can direct the inquiry to the appropriate activity.

Optional side wagers have their own conditions and cost. Count them within the chosen limit instead of adding them without accounting for the amount. Watching a round or asking for an explanation is a reasonable way to approach unfamiliar rules.

For background, use our payout explanation and side-bet guide. The conditions displayed at the actual table remain the reference for play.

Poker cash games, Sunday tournaments and differing descriptions

The dedicated casino page advertises Friday and Saturday cash games and first-and-third-Sunday Texas Hold’em tournaments at 6pm. The events page describes Friday and Saturday cash games at 7pm, while the homepage calls those weekend sessions tournaments. These are differing descriptions, so confirm the actual format before travelling.

Use 403-881-2832 or poker@stoneynakodaresort.com for a game-specific inquiry. The casino page also directs visitors to a games manager or pit supervisor.

Questions that resolve the visit plan

For cash play, establish the format, stakes, buy-in, waiting list and intended start. For a tournament, ask about the current entry fee, structure, registration deadline and re-entry conditions. Give the exact date instead of asking only about the usual weekend arrangement.

A game advertisement is not a held seat. Decide what to do if the game is delayed or there is a wait; a meal or break can be part of the evening without starting another gambling activity simply to fill the interval.

Arrange a return journey that fits the actual format. A tournament and a short cash session can make different demands on time. Keep the room’s confirmed response with any dinner or hotel arrangements, particularly when a group includes people who are not playing.

The Ridge Restaurant and family dining

The Ridge is the resort’s family-friendly restaurant, with daily service and a separate breakfast finishing time shown above. It gives hotel guests and visitors an option distinct from the lounge within the casino area.

Choose the meal period as well as the table time. A late morning arrival may fall near the end of breakfast, while a dinner should leave enough time to order and eat before the restaurant finishes. Ask about current menus and last orders when arriving close to a transition.

For a family or larger group, give the headcount and any dietary or seating requirements when making an inquiry. Establish how the group will arrive and whether a reservation is needed. A hotel room booking should not automatically be treated as a held restaurant table.

The dining page says room service is available after 9pm. Ask about the menu and ordering arrangement for that service rather than assuming the restaurant itself stays open or that every daytime dish continues to be offered.

Use the official dining page for menu links. Include drinks, additions and other charges when planning the meal budget, and keep food costs outside the amount available for gaming.

Sidelines Lounge, food cutoffs and sports viewing

Sidelines is described as a lounge for comfort food and watching sports within the casino area, with VLTs available. Its food service ends before the lounge closes, with a later kitchen finish on Friday and Saturday than on other nights.

For a sports visit, identify the event and date when asking about a table. A lounge with screens does not guarantee that every requested match will be shown with sound or that a large party can sit together without arranging it.

The Sidelines menu page separates breakfast, lunch-and-dinner and late-night choices. Its late-night menu is listed from 9pm until 11pm Sunday–Thursday, and 9pm until midnight Friday–Saturday. Use the menu actually serving when ordering; the late selection should not be confused with the complete restaurant offering.

Plan a meal break around the activity that has the fixed start. People attending for conversation or a broadcast can have a complete outing without joining the gaming part. Agree on a common meeting and departure if friends separate for tables or poker afterward.

Ask whether a proposed membership discount applies to the specific order before including it in the budget. The local dining conditions have exclusions and should not be expanded into a reduction on every item.

Rooms, views and the different suite layouts

The current accommodation pages offer king and two-queen rooms with mountain or valley views, alongside several suite styles. Choose the actual room category and bed layout required by the people staying rather than relying on a general resort photograph.

Advertised room layouts; occupancy and availability require hotel confirmation
Room style Advertised distinction
King or two-queen room Mountain or valley-view categories
Junior Suite King bed, pullout sofa and electric fireplace
Jetted Tub Suite Separate bedroom; jetted tub in the living area
Family Suite King bedroom, queen bed and pullout sofa in the living area; call for availability

The room descriptions include practical amenities such as a mini-fridge, microwave, internet and an in-room safe. A suite name alone does not establish the permitted occupancy or availability of the layout on every date.

For a family booking, confirm who will use each sleeping area and whether any access or equipment requirement fits the room. For a shared adult booking, agree on the named guests and arrival arrangement before confirming it.

The hotel directory, Junior Suite description and Family Suite page provide the relevant layouts. Confirm the complete rate and cancellation terms for the selected dates.

Hotel arrival, checkout, deposits and pets

The current house rules publish an 11am checkout, with an extension depending on availability and applicable charges. Ask the hotel to confirm arrival and any early or late arrangement for the actual booking. A special package’s checkout benefit should not be applied to an unrelated room rate.

The property describes a damage deposit of up to CAD $500, using a valid credit card or cash. Confirm the amount and conditions for the selected stay. Keep that requirement distinct from the room tariff and money allocated to meals or entertainment.

Pet accommodation is limited to designated rooms. The published policy allows at most two pets and lists CAD $25 per pet per night. Arrange the appropriate room and confirm current fees before travelling rather than assuming every category is offered on the same basis.

Register the actual people staying and keep the confirmation accessible. A casino visit or restaurant booking does not substitute for a hotel reservation. If friends arrive at different times, agree on the registration and key arrangement directly with reception.

Use the current guest policies for the property’s stated conditions. Ask the hotel about the particular room, dates and requirements instead of transferring another resort’s deposit or pet policy.

Pool, waterslide, fitness facilities and renovations

The hotel page lists complimentary guest access to an indoor pool, waterslide and hot tub, with a 9am–11pm period. A fitness centre is also advertised. These are hotel-guest amenities and should not be treated as automatic benefits of entering the casino.

The current homepage announces renovations limited to designated areas, stating that the overall experience is not expected to be affected. If a particular room feature, pool visit or access route is essential, ask which arrangements apply during the booked dates rather than turning that general statement into a guarantee.

Fit amenity time around the hotel stay. A late poker or gaming session may finish after the pool period, and a morning activity must still work with breakfast and checkout. Decide which parts matter most rather than trying to fit every advertised service into one short stay.

For families, keep the pool, dining and other activities together in the plan while adults arrange any separate casino time. A clear meeting place and supervision arrangement are more useful than assuming the whole resort is one shared activity at every hour.

Guest parking, RVs and trucks

The hotel page advertises complimentary on-site parking, including an RV and truck arrangement. It says those vehicles must register at the front desk for a stay of up to two nights.

Confirm the correct area and current requirements before arriving in a larger vehicle. A parking description should not be expanded into an assumed campsite reservation, hookup service or permission to use any space for any length of time.

Give reception the vehicle type, intended arrival and departure when asking about the arrangement. Keep the response separate from a hotel room or casino plan. If the group has more than one vehicle, share the agreed parking and meeting point so everyone follows the same instructions.

The resort links parking guidelines from its hotel page. Use the actual registered arrangement for the visit rather than relying on an older third-party description of facilities.

Event Centre, meetings and group occasions

The resort promotes an Event Centre and meeting spaces for weddings, conferences, trade shows, concerts and corporate gatherings. The hotel, dining and function can be organised at the same property, but each part still needs an agreed arrangement.

Contact the resort with the date, expected attendance, event type and room setup you need. A presentation, seated meal and reception require different layouts. Ask for the capacity of the actual setup rather than assuming one headline room size suits every purpose.

A useful proposal identifies setup access, catering, equipment, staffing, complete cost, payment timetable and cancellation conditions. An inquiry alone does not hold a room. Keep the actual confirmation and share a clear running order with the people organising the function.

The official events page also carries dated public occasions. These should be checked separately from a private booking; tickets, admission, food inclusion and arrival arrangements can differ from one event to another.

If guests are staying overnight, distinguish the function headcount from the bedroom requirement. Give the hotel the relevant rooming and arrival details instead of assuming a group meal automatically reserves accommodation.

Winner’s Edge and dining conditions

The casino page advertises Winner’s Edge and a local dining benefit with conditions. Its description excludes alcohol and daily specials and limits how the discount applies to a bill. A general rewards heading should not be read as a reduction on every purchase.

Ask which item or activity qualifies, how to present the card and what current redemption conditions apply. Keep points and promotional balances distinct from cash-out tickets and money set aside for the return journey.

Choose the spending limit before considering a reward threshold. Additional play can cost more than the benefit being pursued. A qualifying meal benefit is most useful when it fits an outing already planned rather than becoming a reason to extend the session.

Use the programme information on the official casino page and ask staff about the actual order. Another Alberta property’s local dining terms should not automatically be transferred here.

Putting the visit together

Casino gaming is 18+. Bring valid government-issued photo identification; AGLC requires checks where someone appears under 25. The resort’s family-friendly hotel and restaurant facilities do not give minors access to the gaming floor. Ask about the appropriate non-gaming entrance and route for the activity being booked.

A meal and casino evening

Choose the food service and time first, then fit gaming around it. Leave time to order and eat before a confirmed poker start or group activity. Remember that the lounge and kitchen have different finishing periods.

An overnight or family stay

Confirm the room category and arrival, decide when to use the guest amenities, and arrange the meal that fits the day. A late casino finish does not automatically extend checkout. People using different activities should have an agreed way to meet again.

The complete cost

Set aside accommodation, food and travel before deciding what is available for gaming. Count slots, live tables and poker together. Our budget calculator helps organise the costs, while the gambling support page provides help information if play becomes difficult to manage.

For other resort-style visits, see Grey Eagle Resort & Casino or Red Deer Resort & Casino. Those are separate destinations with their own rooms, schedules and requirements.

Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino FAQs

Where is Stoney Nakoda Resort & Casino and which number should I use?

The resort publishes 888 Nakoda Way, Mînî Thnî, Alberta T0L 1N0, near the Highway 40 approach towards Kananaskis. Use 403-881-2830 or info@stoneynakodaresort.com for hotel, dining and general inquiries. Poker has a separate contact, 403-881-2832 or poker@stoneynakodaresort.com. Give the exact date and activity so staff can answer the relevant question.

Is Stoney Nakoda Casino open 24 hours?

No. Checked November 1, 2026, the operator lists slots daily 10am–4am and live tables daily 2pm–3am. A closing time after midnight falls on the following calendar date. Poker, restaurants, the lounge and hotel amenities have their own arrangements. General floor hours do not guarantee that every game has a staffed, vacant seat throughout the period.

How many slots are advertised and is the entire casino non-smoking?

The dedicated casino page advertises more than 300 slots. That is an operator inventory description, not a fresh physical count or live vacancy list. It describes the main floor and Sidelines Lounge as non-smoking, with smoking permitted in a separate slot area behind sliding glass doors. Ask staff about the location and route if avoiding the smoking area matters to your visit.

Are Friday and Saturday poker sessions cash games or tournaments?

The casino page describes Friday and Saturday cash games; the events page specifies 7pm cash games, while the homepage calls those weekend sessions tournaments. The casino page separately lists first-and-third-Sunday Texas Hold’em tournaments at 6pm. Because the descriptions differ, confirm the actual format, date, start, stakes or entry conditions with 403-881-2832 or poker@stoneynakodaresort.com before travelling. No seat availability is assumed.

When do The Ridge and Sidelines serve food?

The Ridge is listed daily 8am–9pm, with breakfast until 11am and room service advertised after 9pm. Sidelines Lounge is listed daily 10am–2am. Its separate late-night menu runs 9pm–11pm Sunday–Thursday and 9pm–midnight Friday–Saturday. Those food cutoffs precede lounge closing; they do not extend the complete daytime menu until 2am. Confirm last orders and the actual service needed.

What are the hotel checkout, deposit and pet conditions?

The house rules state an 11am checkout and a damage deposit of up to CAD $500 by valid credit card or cash. Pet accommodation is limited to designated rooms, with at most two pets and a published CAD $25 charge per pet per night. Confirm the selected room, current charges and deposit conditions with the hotel. A package-specific late checkout does not automatically apply to another rate.

Do casino visitors automatically get pool and waterslide access?

The hotel advertises complimentary pool, waterslide and hot-tub access for resort guests, with a 9am–11pm period, plus a fitness centre. Casino entry is not a hotel reservation or a guest-amenity entitlement. The homepage also announces work in designated areas. If the pool or another feature determines the booking, confirm its availability and any applicable arrangements for the actual stay.

Can children use the hotel and restaurant while adults visit the casino?

The Ridge is advertised as family-friendly, and hotel accommodation includes family layouts, but casino gaming is 18+. Bring valid government-issued photo identification; AGLC requires age checks where someone appears under 25. Ask the resort about suitable non-gaming entrances and routes. Agree on supervision and meeting arrangements rather than assuming a family dinner or room booking permits access to the gaming floor.

Does complimentary RV and truck parking mean an unrestricted campsite stay?

No. The hotel advertises complimentary RV and truck parking with front-desk registration for up to two nights. Confirm the correct area, vehicle requirements and intended arrival and departure. The description does not establish hookups, camping facilities or permission to use any space indefinitely. Keep the registered parking arrangement distinct from a hotel room, restaurant booking or casino visit.
